For a leisurely hike filled with tall trees, ferns, and beautiful flowers, stop off at the Wildwood Forest just outside of Courtenay. Located just a few kilometers outside of the city, this park land has over 600 acres of wilderness and several trail heads which make for convenient access.
The trail system is managed by The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) in partnership with Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) of the Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations. The trail system is relatively flat, wide, and smooth and makes for an easy walk or bike ride through the trail network.
Don't forget to pack your water and a snack for the journey along with a camera as you never know what you’ll find out in the woods. And as my old camp counselor used to say, "when you’re out in the woods take only photos, and leave only footprints”.
For more information on the Wildwood forest, check out the Comox Valley Regional Districts web page along with their brochure.
See you on the trails!
